Scott A. Walker, age 59, of Wisconsin Rapids died Saturday, April 3, 2021 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital following a courageous five-year battle with cancer.
Services will be at 5:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Visitation for relatives and friends will be from 2:00 P.M. until the time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home. There will also be a celebration of Scott’s life following the services from 6:00-9:00 P.M. on Wednesday at the Kellner Club. Burial will be at a later date at Pioneer Cemetery.
Scott was born May 18, 1961 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI, the son of Alan M. Walker and Jean A. (Bottensek) Walker. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1979. He married his high school sweetheart and soulmate, Sandra (Sandi) L. Mallek on August 8, 1981. They enjoyed over 39 years of marriage together.
He worked at the local paper mill in Wisconsin Rapids, Consolidated Papers Inc./Verso Corporation for 37 years before retiring in 2018.
Scott was an avid archer and hunter. He was a member of Antler Archers Inc. for many years where he enjoyed shooting on the archery leagues during the summer and winter. He enjoyed hunting with his wife, Sandi, on their 40 acres of hunting land and with the Country Bucks group on the weekends. During the summer, he loved spending time with his wife, daughters, and friends on his pontoon at the family cottage on the Big Eau Pleine reservoir.
Scott is survived by his loving wife, Sandi; two daughters, Kristen (Jason) Otto and Robi Jo Walker; his mother, Jean Walker; a sister, Vicky (Bruce) O’Keefe; his father-in-law, Ray Mallek; brother-in-law, Michael (Julie) Mallek; sister-in-law, Cheryl (Dick) Schlachter; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Alan M. Walker and his mother-in-law, Diana Mallek.
Scott and his family wish to thank all of their family and friends for their continued prayers and support during his battle with cancer.
