Janice “Janney” Wipfli’s love of life didn’t come to an end with her death. Janney passed away August 20, 2021 at 83 in Nampa, Idaho, with her daughter, Suzi by her side. Her 6 children will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives with laughter. Janney was born September 15, 1937 to Art and Sophie Zurfluh, in Port Edwards where she lived most of her life. She married Tom Wipfli in 1955 and they were married 58 years at his passing in 2013.
She was always game for new adventures and would strike up a conversation with anyone…anywhere! She was an incredible cook which was showcased at family holidays and she was always mindful to invite those who were alone. She was the hub of our family and a very empathic person ready to lend a listening ear and willing to help. Our mom was talented in anything she set out to learn: Knitting, sewing, caning chairs, gardening, canning, refinishing furniture and cooking/entertaining. For 8 years she taught Senior water aerobics at the Port YMCA, she also worked at Port Daly Drugs, The Paper Inn and Walker Cranberries, but these were all side jobs to support her love of home decorating.
Janney is survived by her 6 children, Doug of ID, Nancy of CA, Suzi of ID, Cheryl of TX, Lisa of WI, and Kirk of WI as well as sisters Peggy and Barb. She had a tremendous love for her 15 grandchildren and was happiest surrounded by family. She is now with our dad and our brother Todd in Heaven. She attended Alexander Catholic Church and then Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Edwards, prior to moving.
Her memorial service will be held Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Herman Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids with Mark Meuser officiating. Visitation is 10-11:00 am with service following at 11:00.
Herman-Taylor Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the family.
