Elizabeth (Betty) Ann Nystrom, 85 of Wisconsin Rapids passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Our House Senior Living in Wisconsin Rapids.
Betty will be honored with a private family memorial service.
Betty was born August 29, 1936 to Lydia and George Schneider in Wisconsin Rapids. She married Harvey Nystrom on October 26, 1957. Betty worked for Consolidated Papers until she married Harvey. She also worked at Red Owl and Bob’s Castle Foods as a meat cutter until her and Harvey started their family and she stayed home to be a mom and homemaker. Betty was an amazing homemaker who enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, hanging out laundry all year round and tending to her flowers. To everyone’s delight there was always a loaf of fresh baked bread on her counter. She took pride in her home and taking care of Harvey and her two boys. Betty enjoyed riding around in Harvey’s old cars, camping and traveling in their motorhome. She loved to feed anyone who stopped by for a visit. She also enjoyed a good game of cribbage and sharing a cold beer with family and friends.
Betty is survived by her two sons, Geno (Patti) and Garth (Wendy), five grandchildren, Vern (Christie), Travis (Stephanie), Remington, Ramsden (Kristen) & Bailey (Gavin), and 11 great grandchildren, Taylor, Brianna, Mackenzi, Braylen, Macy, Arabella, Kyren, RJ, Emri, Klairabelle, and Paisley. Also survived by sisters Shirley Peterson, Donna (Ole) Enkro and Judy Hanneman, sister in-law Carol Schneider.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Arnold (Elaine) Schneider, Howard Schneider, Donald (Ella) Schneider, sisters Sylvia (Richard) Kester, Georgia (Terrance) Hoffman, brother in laws Jerry (Mary Lou, Bernice) Nystrom, Glenn (Patricia) Nystrom, Richard Nystrom, Jerry Hanneman, and sister-in-law Dawn (Daniel) Schlotman.
Betty’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Our House Senior Living and Aspirus Hospice staff who cared for Betty as if she were family.
Most of all Betty loved spending time with her family, sharing a good story or a good recipe. She will be missed by all who knew her. We find comfort knowing that she was ready to reunite with “Her Harv”.
Herman-Taylor Funeral Home, Wisconsin Rapids, is honored to be assisting the family.
