Ronald G. Foster

August 15, 1941 ~ April 30, 2021 (age 79)

Ronald G. Foster, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on April 30, 2021 at the age of 79. Ron was born in Punxsutawney, PA on August 15, 1941. He was the third of four sons born to Wade and Cecil (Hileman) Foster. He spent his childhood in western Pennsylvania and graduated from Gateway Senior High School in Monroeville, PA in 1959. Ron then attended Lakeland College (now Lakeland University) in Sheboygan, WI, on a football scholarship and was in the army reserve. After a brief time on active military duty, he graduated from Lakeland in 1965 with a B.S. in Accounting. Ron also met Roberta (Bobbi) DeVries at Lakeland College and they were married on August 22, 1964. Ron and Bobbi raised three daughters: Kristen, Tawnya and Mindan.

Ron started his career in corporate accounting and spent over 25 years with Tenneco Inc., in the automotive business. As part of the management of a Fortune 500, multinational corporation, he traveled extensively for his job, enjoying the places, cultures, and people he experienced throughout the world. Ron is also an alumnus of the Harvard University executive management program.   He retired as Tenneco Senior Vice President and General Manager of Monroe Auto Equipment (Monroe Shocks & Struts) in 1995. In his retirement, Ron served on several corporate boards in the automotive industry, including as the Chairman of the Board of Keystone Automotive Operations, and a board member of LKQ Corporation. He also served on many service and non-profit boards.

Ron loved sports and was a life-long athlete. Football, baseball, and tennis were his favorites; he played tennis as often as possible until his illness. After many moves around the country for his job, Ron and Bobbi retired in Marco Island, FL., and Lake Arrowhead, WI, as Ron was also an avid fisherman and boater. If asked, he would tell you his favorite activity was being “Papa” to his five grandchildren.

Ron is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Bobbi; his three daughters, Kristen (Jim) Livecchi, Tawnya Foster and Mindan (Brad) Alt; his five grandchildren, Gina Livecchi, Ana Livecchi, Talia Livecchi, Dublyn Alt, and Bennett Alt; his brother, Norman (Mike) Foster; his brother- and sisters-in-law, Peter DeVries, Jana Prentniecks, Joanne Foster, Agnes Foster and Evalo Foster; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Howard (Bake) and William (Bill) Foster.

A celebration of life will be held at a date to be determined later this summer. In lieu of flowers or other memorials, the Foster family encourages donations in Ron’s name to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN).
